Traveling just like tattooing?

Taboga Island, off the coast of Panama, March 2007

Sometime over the past few months, I definitely caught the travel bug. I got a pretty severe case, too... and it is only getting worse.

These days, anytime anyone mentions anything remotely related to traveling (e.g., honeymoons to Brazil, gaveling, I-95, walking to the bank), my stomach gets in these excited knots like it is the one going somewhere. Then I start to get all jumpy, my voice starts to crack, and a thin layer of sweat forms all over. After the physical symptoms subside, overwhelming jealousy washes over me (i.e., assuming I am talking to someone actually taking a trip farther than the Commerce on JFK) and I have to suppress the urge to yell at the person for taking a trip without me.

Even just writing about it, my mind is going wild! Scotland in June? Service trip in Chile in September? Greece for the summer (not possible for me, but doesn't that sound nice?)? With Cyprus thrown in?

Unfortunately, none of these trips are even close to planned, mostly because of my two biggest barriers: time and money. It is still unclear what I'll be able to accomplish given these restraints...

I've heard getting tattoos is also addicting - once you get one you apparently can't wait to get the next. This makes me glad I've never gotten a tattoo. Can you imagine? Tattoos are cheap relative to trips overseas and they are less time-intensive. I am pretty sure I'd be covered from head to toe, perhaps with tattoos in the shape of Scotland, Chile, Greece, Cyprus, etc...
